Flyfishing Classes

Once again this spring and summer, West Winds will offer a series of introductory fly-fishing classes. These classes will serve to provide the novice flyfisher with the basic skills to get a successful start in this rewarding passtime.

Beginner Flyfishing Classes

This one day school will introduce you to the sport of flyfishing. In the school you will be shown:

  • basic fly casting
  • knot tying
  • reading water, identifying where fish live
  • entomology...insect identification
  • proper selection of flies for various situations
  • how to select tackle best suited to your needs

The instructors for the one day course are both experienced flyfishers (over 50 years experience between the two). More importantly, they both have 15 years experience in teaching flyfishing.

All equipment is supplied for the schools. All that you are required to bring is something to drink, a lunch, pencil and paper for notes,... and lots of enthusiasm.

Dates to be announced. Schools usually commence the 2nd week of May, depending upon Mother Nature's cooperation.

School size...A maximum of 12 students with two instructors
